CBT Facilitator - In-Custody

Job Overview

Our program at FOLSOM STATE PRISON is an evidenced-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment program within an incarcerated setting that will address substance use disorder, criminal thinking, anger management, and family relationships. The CBT program will encourage male offenders to adopt a pro-social, law abiding lifestyle that helps obtain skills necessary to function as productive members in society, generate alternative solutions, and make decisions about appropriate behavior. AOD Counselors and CBT Facilitators will facilitate a caseload of 12 male offenders during their participation in the program.

 

The Rehabilitative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Facilitator is responsible for delivery of direct services to In-custody participants in the curricula of; Criminal Thinking, Anger Management, and Family Relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates individual counseling treatment sessions with each caseload participant   
  • Proactively links participants to both internal and external resources
  • Creates a support network for the participant’s pending return to the community
  • Works directly with the participants to develop and implement a treatment service plan
  • Responsible for making sure that participant files are in compliance

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must fulfill one of the following:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services/Social Sciences, Substance Abuse Certification (certification recognized by DHCS), and minimum of 1 year experience working in addiction

OR

Associates Degree in Human Services/Social Sciences, Substance Abuse Certification (certification recognized by DHCS), and minimum of 2 years’ experience working in addiction

OR

High school Diploma or its equivalent, Substance Abuse Certification (certification recognized by DHCS), and minimum of 3 years’ experience working in addiction

 

Required:

  • Ability to work with diverse population
  • Ability to receive and maintain CDCR clearance
  • Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers
  • Computer Literacy

Desired:

  • Specialized knowledge such as, mental health issues, life skills, vocational training, anger management, incest, criminal behavior, rape crisis, grief, etc.
  • Familiarity with penal codes and the criminal justice system
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma informed treatment and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Treatment 
  • Knowledge of Clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes etc.)
  • Bilingual
