A Program of Asian American Recovery Services
Sister-to-Sister: Celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Women of Tomorrow is an annual leadership conference developed for AANHPI girls who have been identified as engaging in at-risk behaviors as well as for those girls who are demonstrating a desire to develop strong leadership skills. Girls are given an opportunity to listen to speakers who look like them and have gone through similar experiences while meeting various community members and learning about the various organizations and services available to them and their families. The Conference includes topics such as substance misuse awareness, sexual health, cultural dance, dating and domestic violence, body image, self-defense, yoga, and healthy relationships. AANHI girls ages 12 through 18 are eligible to participate.
Since 1995, AARS has hosted Sister-to-Sister in Santa Clara County and in 2023, expanded the Conference to serve San Mateo County. Every year, Sister-to-Sister is funded through individual community sponsorships and donations.
