On December 16, 2019, HealthRIGHT 360 formally recognized SEIU as the union our employees have selected to represent them. An independent third party, former California state Senator Mark Leno, counted the number of employee-signed union cards, matched with a list of union eligible employees, and verified that 73% of employees signed cards. The card check process was transparent; employee representatives, management staff, and SEIU leadership from Southern and Northern California were present to witness, and employees were able to watch via web conference on break times to check on the progress of the count. Vitka Eisen, MSW, Ed.D HealthRIGHT 360 President & CEO said “we look forward to working together, employees, management staff, and SEIU to strengthen our collaborative relationship in the service of improving the health of our communities.”
“HealthRIGHT 360’s main goal throughout the entire process, in the spirit of respect for employees, was to assure that employees were able to explore forming a union without interference from management,” said Trina White, PHR, SHRM-CP Vice President of Human Resources for HealthRIGHT 360. “HealthRIGHT 360 management made the commitment to remain neutral during this process and we appreciate them keeping their word and respecting employees’ right to choose,” said Bob Schoonover, President of SEIU Local 721. “We look forward to that same commitment and goodwill as we move forward in bargaining the first contract for these dedicated HealthRIGHT 360 workers who are the newest members of our SEIU union family.”
